About Us
Independent Jewish Voices Vancouver is a local chapter of IJV Canada, a national, grassroots anti-Zionist organization with over 2,000 members and more than a dozen chapters across the country. Our work is grounded in the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam, repairing the world, that opposes all forms of racism and advocates for justice and peace in Occupied Palestine.
We support the Palestinian liberation movement to bring an end to the occupation in Palestine, full equality for Palestinians, and the Palestinian right of return. These values inform our long-standing support of the Boycott Divest, Sanctions (BDS) movement as a means to create change. We also work to challenge the weaponization of antisemitism against legitimate criticism of Israel’s apartheid state, which is used to silence Palestinian voices and fuel anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia.
IJV stands in solidarity with Indigenous peoples and with all marginalized peoples across Turtle Island against racism, settler colonialism and white supremacy. We live and organize on the stolen and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. The struggle for Palestinian liberation deeply connected to the ongoing struggle against imperialism and settler colonialism on these lands.
